Your First Visit

Header - Your First Visit

Welcome to our office, and we hope to meet you soon. We are committed to making your dental experience at our office a pleasant one. Our goal is to provide you with the best dental care possible.

On your first visit with us, we will begin by listening to your dental concerns and attempt to answer all of your questions thoroughly. We will gather information about your overall health. It is important for us to know what medical conditions you may have and any prescriptions and over-the-counter medications you are taking. Although they may seem to be unrelated to your mouth, medical conditions and medications may have an effect on your dental health.

Prior to beginning your oral examination, we will take appropriate x-rays to assist us in checking your teeth. Next, we will provide a comprehensive examination, where we will look at much more than just your teeth. We will check other areas inside and outside of your mouth for signs of disease or other problems. This is known as an oral cancer screening exam. We will check your occlusion, or how well your teeth fit together by examining your bite, and do a clinical examination of the teeth using the x-rays we took to aid us. This will involve checking your fillings, permanent crowns, bridges, or other restorations to make sure they are intact as well as checking all surfaces of the teeth to make sure there is no decay present. Finally, we will do a periodontal examination where we check your gums and supporting structures of the teeth.

Once we have completed our examination, we will share our findings with you and discuss the most appropriate treatment to meet your oral health goals.

Please note: A parent or guardian must accompany patients under 18 during their first visit to our office.
